As mayor of Rotterdam it is a busy life when you are 24 hours a day the representative of a metropol and also have to pay attention to your family.
From this reasoning we made this a living for the mayor where he could feel at home and relax after a busy day, unwind. The resident can serve as a pleasant stay of the guests and work related issues, such as meetings and parties.
We devised a compact routing whereby you always come back to the beginning. When choosing the location we placed the plan for 2/3 in the park and a small portion is positioned on the dike in order to create the opportunity, in this way we incorporate the beautiful park in the plan and offering views of the ‘port of Rotterdam’ which shows what Rotterdam has to offer!
On the chosen location the three largest trees that were closest to each other were the starting point to help determine the main form. By making one of the trees part of the design the feeling is reinforced in the draft that the property is withdrawn as it were, the house will become part of the park.
In here, I placed the compact routing that at first is a system of stairs that the property crosses at various levels and secondly a ramp that runs around the building and makes it a closed the routing. Through the glass double-skin facade and curved glass interior walls was created a transparent building that will let you experience the building and its surroundings in an optimal way everywhere. You get when you enter the ramp the feeling you stroll through the park.
The building is carried by 23 inclined steel columns, where the number actually is related to the 13 districts and the 10 largest ports to which the city of Rotterdam.
