Butcherstore Meppel

Bringing local crafts together under one roof and letting customers taste the origin of the product was the wish of our client. To turn the property from a furniture showroom to a fresh store we removed all additions to the structure and maintained the pure structure.

As a shoppingconcept we have chosen for a ‘foodcourt’, where the client moves around a center square and experiences this ‘foodcourt’ from beginning to end. The center square is the epicenter of the fresh store. Here the butcher has his place behind the chopping block and here all the work takes place to supply fresh meats and meals in the store. The client decided to present, besides the local meat products, also vegetables, fruit, wine, cheese and bread on the side walls.

The look of the shop is industrial with contrasting elements to provide the right tension.
