Passing through

A new location of Holland Casino in Zandvoort with a size of 2000m2 is the central design challenge. The old casinos often have an old-fashioned atmosphere, where daylight is absent, without reference to the outside world, focusing on ostentation and styled like advertisement.

They are entertainment venues where visitors can gamble on roulette, by putting their money in blackjack, slots and other games.

With the likely ending monopoly on gaming and the expansion of the leisure market, Holland Casino wants to build a casino to find a one stop experience where both excitement and relaxation shelter. In addition to the attractive imagination of entertainment forms with logistics, security, playing technique and CIT.

The exterior literally says the credo “a great opportunity to go out.” This project focused on the design of the architectural spaces of the casino, where the user experience is the main focus. Materials, color, texture and light enhance the spatial atmosphere and identity. Innovation in materialisation and detailing are combined in a unique architectural articulation. Rooms are arranged from the inside out. This strategy denies to activate the usual separation between interior and exterior and also aims to use the façade instead as just decoration. The design included a routing structure that enables continuous visitors, enticed to stay here, to discover and continues to play in the casino.
